Virgo, the Virgin is ruled by the planet Mercury (the trickster), the messenger of the gods and is the sixth sign of the zodiac. Virgo is an Earth sign, mutable (changeable and fluid) and governs service, practicality, intellectual subtlety and critical analysis. Virgo people tend to be adapatable with a keen eye for detail, and are intellectual and discriminating. Virgo is a feminine sign.
The symbol for Virgo, the Virgin is seen holding sheaves of wheat in her hands, which symbolises wisdom by years of experience. In ancient mythology she was seen as the Goddess of Fertility. Virgos have a tendency to be shy and idealistic and are prone to question everything.
Virgos have a critical eye for detail, and should they endure a lot of disappointment in life, that critical eye will often turn inward making them cynical and skeptical.
Virgo are often health conscious and talented in various areas. They are altruistic and would do well in service oriented careers.
Virgo rules sinuses, respiratory system and bowels. Colds, flu, allergies and problems with intestines and colon are common among Virgo complaints. You are also subject to depressed moods at times, which can adversely affect the ones around you.
Virgo colors are blue, navy, lilac and yellow. Their birthstone is sapphire and their flower is aster, chrysanthemum, ivy and fern.

The Hermit card refers to learning, furthering one's education, and can either mean the teacher or the student. It is also a symbol of achievement.
